VeriPro consists of a software and a headset that measures the actual attenuation of earplugs. It determines the noise reduction capacity of earplugs over varying frequencies through the company's loudness-balance method. This method balances the sound of a tone in an ear to a tone in the other ear. The results are called the Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR).
Like VeriPro, QuietDose also measures sounds that reach the ear after they have been filtered with ear defenders, except that the latter uses in-ear dosimetry. Because of this, the data gathered are more accurate than those using other methods. When used over a period of time, it can also provide you with a time-weighted average (TWA) of your sound exposure during that period.
These Howard Leight hearing protection products help employers analyze the risk that their employees are exposed to. With the data provided, they are able to assess if their protective gears are adequate safeguards against noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL), or if the employees are using them properly. Better decisions relative to the management of risks arising out of exposure to noise is thus assured.
